Pignoletto: The Gem of Emilia Romagna Wines

A territory of extraordinary landscape, historical and cultural richness, known throughout the world also and above all for the quality of its food and wine offerings.

Located on the hills south and west of Bologna, with different altitudes, extremely varied terrains and microclimates, it is a land suited to the production of quality wines, from the great red wines that have brought this territory to the world, to Pignoletto, which finds here the place from which it takes its name, recognized as the apex of the quality pyramid of the Emilia Romagna Region through the DOCG Colli Bolognesi Pignoletto

COLLI BOLOGNESI PIGNOLETTO DOCG

At the top of quality

The Controlled and Guaranteed Designation of Origin wine “Colli Bolognesi Pignoletto” takes its name from the homonymous town in the province of Bologna, in the municipality of Valsamoggia and near Monteveglio.

The grape variety from which it comes to life is the Grechetto Gentile, also known locally by the traditional name of Alionzina.

Its fresh and appetizing sparkling and spumante versions are well known, it offers great charm and personality in the still version, whose great structure is further highlighted by the long refinement that precedes the marketing of the Classica Superiore version, which cannot take place before October 4th of each year.

Thanks to the superb characteristics that the grapes synthesize from the land in which they live, in favorable years the Pignoletto Classico Superiore DOCG can easily be pushed to several years of aging, where the already considerable structure is articulated and deepened with surprising thickness.

Certainly among the most interesting whites in our wine panorama, Pignoletto expresses a character of typicality of great importance so much so that it is now appreciated throughout the national territory and beyond. The production of grapes suitable for producing DOCG Colli Bolognesi Pignoletto wine stands at around 17,500 qt for a vineyard area of around 640 hectares.
