Abruzzo, the Region of Natural Beauty.

Italy is home to some 2500 wolves

Abruzzo is a region in central Italy. It is bordered by the Adriatic Sea to the east and the Apennine Mountains to the west, offering a diverse landscape that ranges from coastal beaches to mountainous terrains. The region is divided into four provinces: L’Aquila, Teramo, Pescara, and Chieti.

Abruzzo is renowned for its national parks and nature reserves, which protect a variety of flora and fauna, including the Marsican brown bear. The Gran Sasso d’Italia, part of the Apennine range, is the highest peak in the region, standing at 2,912 metres.

The region has a rich cultural heritage, with traditions in crafts such as ceramics from Castelli and goldwork from Scanno. Abruzzo’s cuisine features hearty dishes like arrosticini (skewered lamb) and a variety of pasta specialties.
