VILLA MAZZACORATI
Villa Aldrovandi Mazzacorati is a historic 17th-century building located just outside the center of Bologna. After being acquired by Annibale Marescotti, towards the end of the 17th century the house with garden passed to the Aldrovandi family who carried out various restoration works. At the end of the 18th century the villa became the property of the Mazzacorati marquises. The villa’s definitive appearance, in neoclassical style, dates back to the same period, designed by Francesco Tadolini. The villa is known for the theater housed inside, inaugurated in 1763 and the only example of a private suburban theater that has survived to us in the Bologna area. Inside the villa there is also the “Mario Massacesi” Historical Museum of the Toy Soldier and a Polyclinic of the Regional Health Service.
