The Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage, as part of its 19th session still underway in Asunción (Paraguay), proclaimed the extension to Italy of the UNESCO recognition of ‘Traditional Bell Art’ as an element of Cultural Heritage Immaterial. Traditional bell ringing, already included in the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Spain in 2022, is recognized as an element that expresses a set of material and immaterial components, ranging from the techniques of ringing the bells, to their creation, up to the structures architectural features of the historic bell cells and bell towers. This heritage represents the universality and shared value of a tradition that has accompanied the celebration time for centuries, uniting generations and cultures in the melodious sound of the bells.
